Priscilla Eze, a 400 level student of the department of Mass Communication, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has been invited by a Nollywood producer to feature in a movie to be shot early next year.
Eze is the prominent actress who played ‘Yoruba Zombie’ role in the Climate Change Dance short film produced by her class in October.
The Zombie Dance short film which got over 50,000 views within the first one month it was uploaded on various online platforms, received wide commendations from across the world.
A Nollywood filmmaker, Mr. Kendy Okeke, said after watching the short film, that the students were outstanding in their performance.
In an exclusive interview with Massmediang, Okeke who is also a producer and actor, showered praises on the makeup artist, film editor, and director of the short film, describing their works as very professional.
According to Okeke, “As a filmmaker who has trained over 130 people in film and has worked with some professionals in Nollywood, I will say that this work looks professional. The artists, make up, director and the editor did an amazing job. This is awesome.”
When he requested to meet the makeup artist but was told that the makeup was done by the students themselves, the filmmaker expressed disbelief. “You don’t mean it. This is unbelievable. Those students really did well,” he said.
Okeke who also graduated from the department of mass communication, COOU seven years ago, promised to include Eze in a movie he will be co-producing early next year to showcase her talent. “I will discus with my co-producer. I think we will invite her to play a role in the movie so she could start from somewhere to nurture and showcase her talent. That’s the best I can do for my department.”
Kendy Okeke is making this observation on Zombie Dance Short film from a position of his rich experience in film making. Checkout a brief of his pedigree; He has featured in movies aired on Africa Magic Urban. He played a key role in the movie ‘Home Invasion’ which was sponsored by Africa Magic and aired on one of Africa Magic channels.
Okeke earned his first major cash as a Nollywood star from that movie. He also played a major role in another chart-bursting movie entitled ‘Undead’ which is only on YouTube. He then directed the movie ‘Retaliate’ which was his first as a director. Okeke was tutored by directors who trained in some of the best Film Schools in the US. He also acted in the movie entitled ‘Professional Neighbours. The movie featured prominent Nollywood stars among which are Ngozi Ezeonu, Fred Ebere, Angel Ufuoma, and Prince Nolly.
