Professor Cecil Blake is a living legend in the field of Communication Education in the African Continent. The Sierra Leonian has taught in several Universities across countries in Africa including Nigeria and Sierra Leone. Blake was one-time the Minister of Communication and Broadcasting in Sierra Leone. He has consulted widely for several agencies in the world, including the United Nations.
What many do not know is that Professor Blake was the leader of a band in Sierra Leone in the 1960s. The band called “The Golden Strings” was the best in that country at that time but Blake left that calling for the academia while some of the band members went ahead to become great in the Music industry of that country.
Recently, the Fourth edition of the Idowu Sobowale conference was held in honour of Cecil Blake in Free Town, Capital of Sierra Leone and he seized that opportunity to test his hands on the drums, remembering the good old days.
