The University of Nigeria Nsukka will be adopting the computer based testing as a mode for semester examination, a communiqué issued by the Vice Chancellor reads.
Speaking through the communiqué, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba lauded the corporation of the staff and ICT directors in ensuring that last Experimental CBT examination employed last year was a success, stressing that hence it will become the official
mode of examination for classes with over 250 students while for classes with fewer than 250 students it remains optional.
He pointed to issues of constant missing scripts and other problems accompanying the archaic Paper and Pen system as the reason for this modification.
According to him, the New CBT system has to a large extent eliminated these problems.
Meanwhile, the directive takes effect from the next semester examinations.
I support the idea because CBT is the best method in assessing academic performance of students.
