UNIUYO Confers Full Professorship to Grace Nwagbara One Week After Her Death

The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) on Wednesday, November 24, announced late Dr. Grace Nwagbara of the department of Communication and Language Arts as a Full Professor in the institution.

Prof. Nwagbara who joined the university as an Assistant lecturer in 1990 died last week after an illness she battled for a while.

Prof. Nwagbara who was an Associate Professor in the institution had submitted her papers months back in expectation of her announcement as a full professor after assessment but that did not happen before her demise.

About a week after her death, the Senate of the University met last Wednesday and announced her elevation to the rank of full professor posthumously.

Prof. Nwagbara who spent over 31 years as a lecturer in UNIUYO produced several Ph.D students and was widely published in local and international journals. She was also a former head of department of Communication and Language Arts. Her research interest included gender issues in communication, cultural issues in advertising and agricultural communication. She had her B.A from the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) in 1985. She then proceeded to do her Masters degree in the same institution while she got her Ph.D from the University of Calabar.
