Uchenna Jennifer Eze popularly known as Uche Eze Pedro, is among the most influential bloggers in Nigeria. She was born on July 26, 1984. She has two siblings, Stephanie Eze and Nkechi Christine Eze. She is the founder and CEO of Bellanaija, a celebrity blog for entertainment and lifestyle. Uche is an award winning Nigerian blogger, Media Tech Entrepreneur and Social media expert. Prior to establishing her website, Uche had worked for Shell Canada, and Cadbury Middle East before returning to Nigeria.

Early life

Uche’s parents gave her the liberty and enabling environment to determine what she wanted to be in future right from childhood. She says she was given the freedom and latitude to freely explore the options for her future. She did not have many educational limitations in her household as a child. She and her siblings were privileged to have access to books, magazines and newspapers. So she began to develop passion for knowledge-seeking early in life.

Education

Uche had her primary and secondary education in Nigeria and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, Canada.

Blogging Career

Uche first worked with Shell Canada shortly after her graduation from school. She then worked with Cadbury Middle East, and African Unit in the UK and finally Cadbury in Nigeria. The idea to start her Bellanaija blog was conceived while she was a University student in Canada. There was a time she had two weeks holiday and got bored. That was when she decided to be doing something to get rid of boredom and the multi-million naira digital business – Bellanaija – was birthed.

Uche founded her blog Bellanaija in 2006. She saw the need for improvements in fashion and entertainment industry and focused her blog on this area. Her blog began on a free platform “Bellanaija.blogspot.com” where she was posting articles, interviews and pictures. When the blog gradually grew and started having millions of views, Uche moved the site to Bellanaija.com. She realized the potentials in the blogging business and decided to build her Bellanaija brand to the extent of having different very popular platforms such as BellaNaija Style and BellaNaija Weddings. These are among her most visited platforms by viewers across the world.

Uche is a Lagos-born entrepreneur who believes that education is not only a lifelong passion, but a premise upon which success can manifest. He believes her blogging business became successful based on knowledge and business acumen she got while studying in the university. She conceived the idea for the digital platform, BellaNaija, just two weeks after she graduated from the Ivey Business School at Western University where she earned an Honours Business Administration Bachelor’s degree. The blog has since grown to become a hub for entertainment, style, news, weddings, lifestyle and more.

In 2017, the BellaNaija team completed the Stanford Seed Transformation Programme, a 12-month programme where high potential leaders are challenged to assess their companies’ vision and redefine strategies. This is a remarkable feat achieved by a Nigerian blogger. Shortly after, the team expanded one of the platform’s key brands into a standalone site, BellaNaijaStyle.com and the brand partnered with the United Nations Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights for an awareness campaign. Uche’s empire has continued to grow as her BellaNaija Weddings is one of the leading wedding blogs in Africa. Uche registered a parent company, BainStone Limited which is focused on developing and managing innovative and exciting online media contents for Africans.

Personal Life

Uche is one of the few personalities in Nigeria with a quiet, decent, family life devoid of viral controversies people at her level are known for. She got married on June 16, 2012 to Bode Adegboyega Pedro, son of former deputy governor of Lagos state. She and her husband are blessed with a set of twins.
