This is the trending story of how a mob on Thursday attacked and killed a policeman over the death of a woman and two children on Owerri Road, Onitsha, Anambra.

It was reported that the some policemen attached to a nearby company had changed their job description from protecting the company to mounting a road block.

When they tried to stop a lorry carrying sharp sand, the lorry driver attempted to avoid them and this lead to a fatal accident. The lorry driver lost control and ran over a woman and two children, killing them instantly.

It was alleged that when the police men saw this, they attempted to flee the scene but an angry mob caught some of them, beat them up and killed one in the process.

In her reacting, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Nkeiru Nwode, expressed dismay over the development, saying the mob should not have taken the law into their hands, but should have reported the matter to the police.

She said the police had taken control of the situation.
