Two months after release, the Climate Change Zombie Dance Short film which had over 50,000 views online is still stunning the creative community. The short film was produced by 400 level students of the Department of Mass Communication, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU).
This time, players in the Nollywood industry who have just appreciated the short film took to social media to shower praises on the production crew, singling out the film editor as a major force behind the professional quality of the short film.
High-profile Nollywood director and filmmaker, Seun Bamgbelu, scored the entire production 90%, describing the effort as commendable. “On point. I give you guys 90%. More grease to una elbow,” Seun wrote in facebook.
Another filmmaker, Kendy Okeke, who posted the video on his facebook platform for his colleagues to critique, insisted that he wanted to meet with the film editor and makeup artist, describing the two as superb talents who took the short film to a great height. Okeke praised the students for a job well done.
A Nollywood makeup artist, Ann Okoro, expressed surprise at the top quality of makeup used by students in the movie, describing it as excellent. “As a professional makeup artist I am, I must tell you the makeup is excellent and the directing superb,” she wrote on facebook.
A Nollywood actor, Ifedi Michael, described the short film as “a good one.” Ifedi Michael is a popular face in the Nollywood industry.
The Zombie Dance short film was shot and edited by Silver Star Studios, Awka, Anambra State.
Director of the studio, Stephen Ifeanyi Ubanwadi, is also a Nollywood producer, actor and director of photography (DOP). He is one the most sought-after DOPs and film editors in the southeast. Earlier this year, Ubanwadi won the Best Camera/Post Production outfit, and best DOP awrads in a short film festival organized by massmediang.com, online news platform.
