Yemi Sonde is a veteran broadcaster of about three decades in the industry. He anchors a popular programme on Splash FM called YS Live. This is a magazine show that treats different issues from current affairs, personality interviews, between 10am to 12 noon. She is an English graduate of the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos and alumna of the London Centre of Contemporary Music (LCCM), United Kingdom, where she studied Music Performance and Production. After her study abroad, Ronke returned to Nigeria and did her mandatory National Youth Service Corpse (NYSC) programme at Splash FM where she grew under the tutelage of Edmund Obilo who gave her 5 minutes session on his programme. Today, Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa is a multiple award-winning radio personality based in Ibadan and works at the first private radio station in the city, Splash 105.5 FM. Edmund Obilo is among the most educated OAPs in Nigeria. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (BEg.) degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree (First Class) in International Relations, Post-Graduate Diploma in Theatre Arts, Master’s degree in Communication and Language Arts and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Political Science. Edmund who hails from Imo State, attended and participated in the 2014 Global Media Forum in Bonn, Germany in 2014, and he was one of the journalists that covered the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York in 2015. He has depth and remarkable pedigree when it has to do with broadcasting in Nigeria. This veteran broadcaster began his radio career as a freelance reporter at the Ibadan network station of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN. He joined a private radio station, Splash 105.5FM in 2007 as a sports presenter and later the producer and presenter of Bull’s Eye, Economic Searchlight, Village Square, Eagle’s Eye, and Voices.
