Female musicians in the country are household names both nationally and internationally with several of them winning reputable awards for their outstanding performance. A number of them perform in sold-out shows in Europe and America, making the country proud. The Nigerian music industry is very lucrative, having top ranking musicians that have a net worth that is calculated in millions of dollars.

1. Asa

Asa is one of the most seasoned too quality female musicians to have come from Nigeria. Her stage name is Asa, but her real name is Bukola Elemide. She has dual citizenship as a Nigerian-French musician but she grew up in a small town near Lagos.
She made her debut in 2009 when she released songs like Jailer, Eye Adaba, Fire on the Mountain and so on. Subsequently she had released quite a number of songs and also signed an endorsement deal with GTBank that is worth millions of naira. Asa is reportedly the richest female musician in Nigeria, with a lot of her shows performed abroad before massive crowd.

 

2. Yemi Alade

Yemi Eberechi Alade was born on 13th March 1989 in Abia state and rose to stardom after she released her biggest hit track “Johnny”. Yemi Alade rose to stardom when she won The Peak Talent Show in 2009, prior to the show she released her first single titled “Fimisile”.

She is one Nigerian artist that has managed to build a huge fan base on YouTube as she gets million of views on her music videos. She has also released some dope tracks like “kissing”, Take over,Tangerine. She won many awards which include ELOY Award in 2013 and has also won the best Female Award at the MTV African Music Awards. Yemi Alade is a brand ambassador for some big Nigerian companies such as CloseUp Toothpaste, an Online Jewelry store, Bland2Glam, Barcadi Breezer and owns a jewelry line called Yemi Alade collections.

3. Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage is not just a good singer with an incredible voice, but also a professional song writer. In 2012, she joined Don jazzy’s Mavin records. Her first hit that welcomed her into the game was “kele kele love” and it was able to scale through to Nigeria music charts.

She has also collaborated with many artiste which include Don Jazzy, Reekado Banks, Dr Sid, Korede Bello, and Di’ja. Major hits like “Eminado” and “Love Me” has improved not only her bank account but also her music career. Tiwa has been present in a number of international shows and is brand ambassador to a number of companies, like Konga, Pepsi, Forte Oil and Maggi. 4. Chidinma Ekile

Chidinma Ekile also known as Miss Kedike has a spot on the list of the top 10 richest female musicians in Nigeria 2019.

She’s a Nigerian Singer and song writer. Chidinma was born in 1991 and her fame began after she won the third season of the MTN Project Fame West Africa in 2010, thereafter she released her singles “Jankoliko”and “kedike”. This latter song made it possible for her to win the Kora Awards for Best Female West Africa Act. This” kedike” crooner, has signed in multi million deal with MTN.

5. Omawumi

Omawumi’s birth name is Omawumi Megbele,she is a Nigerian musician,song writer and an actress. Omawumi started her singing career in 2007 after she was voted as the 1st runner-up for Idol West Africa Competition. Her music career got a big boost from her very first single titled “In the Music”, although she has also released other songs.
She is one artiste who dropped her law certificate for music and shot to limelight with her performance in reality show West African Idols. She is a brand ambassador for some huge Nigerian companies like Malta Guinness, Mortein, Konga.com and Globacom.

6. Seyi Shay

Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua well known as Seyi Shay returned from UK to Nigeria in 2011 before releasing the two hit songs “Loving your way” and “No le le” and in 2013, she released “Irawo”,”chante” etc. She was born on 21st December 1985 and raised in London. She is a Nigerian singer and songwriter.
The talented musician has written three songs for the soundtrack to Konami’s video game. She has signed many endorsement deals with Etisalat, Bacardi Breezer, and the most recent deal with Pepsi and is also one of the ambassadors of the phone brand – Gionee.

 

7. Waje

Aituaje Aina Ebele popularly known as Waje is also one of the best and richest female musicians in Nigeria. She was born on 1st of September 1981 and was featured in Psquare hit singles “Do Me”.
She was also a judge on the reality show – The Voice Nigeria and signed a mouth watering endorsement deal with telecommunication giant, GLO.

 

8. Nneka

Nneka Egbuna known as Nneka was born in the 1980. She is a Nigerian female singer songwriter and actress. This Germany based lady performs at musical concerts hosted in and out of the country.
She started her musical career in 2004 with a performance as an opening act for dance hall reggae star Sean Paul at Hamburg. She has been able to travel across the globe. Nneka released a song “Heartbeat” in September 2009 and it made its way to the top 50 songs in Germany that year. She is signed to Sony Music- an international record label.

 

9. Niyola

Eniola Akinbo better known by her stage name Niyola started her music career way back in 2005 after she was signed to Eldee’s Trybe Records. She later left the label and in 2012 signed to Empire Mates Entertainment label (EME).
She is best known for her Afro R&B Hit “Toh Bad” which won her Nigeria’s Entertainment Award for Best Female Artiste of the Year in 2014. Her other released songs are Go On, Love to Love You and Last Bus Stop etc.

 

10. Cynthia Morgan

Cynthia Morgan currently known by her new stage name, Madrina, is arguably Nigerian’s unofficial queen of reggae and dance hall. She became known in 2010 when featured in Jhybo song, titled “Ejo Le Fe Ro”.
She officially broke into the market in 2013 when she released her biggest hit “Don’t Break My Heart” under Northside Entertainment Inc. Later she released “Lead Me On” which took the street by storm and became the best song on the music chart in that year. Her song “German Juice” was also a hit.
