The 20 Most Expensive Universities in Nigeria

The numerous challenges faced government-owned schools in Nigeria led to rise in private schools at all levels, including tertiary education level. Private Universities are waxing strong as the most stable in the country especially in terms of academic calendar, and this is one their strongest advantages. The quality of some of these schools could be arguable when compared to the high fees paid there. But the fact remains that a number of them offer good quality education with a very stable academic calendar.

Here are the top 20 most expensive Universities in Nigeria. All of them are private universities. Note that the fees paid in these institutions is according to courses and are subject to change annually by each institution. What we provided here are the range of fees paid in the schools.

Nile University of Nigeria

Nile University of Nigeria was founded by the parent company of the NTIC (SURAT Nigeria Ltd)) in 2009 as a private higher education institution located in the large town of Abuja, Federal Capital Territory. It is is officially accredited and recognized by the National Universities Commission, Nigeria.

The fees of Nile University of Nigeria range from 2,400,000 to N5,750,000.

Babcock University

This institution was established by The Seventh Day Adventist church. Its fees range from N600,000 to N3,000,000.

Baze University

Baze University, is an independent University located in Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria, opening in April 2011.

The tuition of the institution falls between N2,200,000  to N2,500,000.

American University of Nigeria (ABTI)

The university located in Yola, the capital of Adamawa has its fees at around N1,400,000.

ABTI is owned by Atiku Abubakar, former vice president of Nigeria.

Afe Babalola University

This institution is owned by Afe Babalola, a prominent legal luminary from Ekiti state.The university which states that it’s a ‘non-profit’ institution on its ‘ABOUT US’ page, has its fees ranging from N800,000 to N2,600,000.

 

Bingham University

Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State was established by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) following its formal licensing by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on 5th January, 2005.

The private institution’s fees falls between N600,000 to N1,200,000.

 

Igbinedion University

Founded in 1999, the University located in Okada, Edo State has its fees ranging from N514,320 to N3,000,000.

The institution is owned by the Igbinedion royal family of Benin Kingdom.

Bowen University

This institution is a private university owned and operated by the Nigerian Baptist Convention. It is located in Iwo, Osun state. Its fees range between N570,000 to N1,850,000.

Crawford University

Owned by the Apostolic Faith Mission, Crawford’s tuition ranges between N400,000 to N6,000,000.

Crawford is a private Christian university located in Igbesa, Ogun state.

It was established in 2005 by Paul Akazue.

Redeemer’s University

The Christian university has its fees ranging from N500,000 to N650,000.

The university which is owned by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), was established in 2005.

Lead City University

The fee structure of Lead City University ranges from N150,000 to N550,000.

Located in Ibadan, Oyo state, Lead City has been controlled by Eduserve Consult since its inception in 2005.

Caleb University

The Lagos-based institution was founded in 2008 by Prince Oladega Adebogun, who also owns Caleb primary and secondary schools.

Caleb University has its school fees at about N550,000.

Ajayi Crowther University

Located in Oyo State, the university tuition ranges between N195,600 to N670,000.

Benson Idahosa University

Popularly known as B.I.U, the school fees fall between N270,000 to N1,150,000.

Ben Idahosa University was founded in 1994 and is located in Benin, Edo state.

Joseph Ayo Babalola University

Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) was established by the Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide in 2006. It is located in Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun state. Its fees range from N436,000 to N690,000.

Covenant University

Covenant is a private Christian university and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Its school fees fall between N600,000 to N700,000.

Achievers University

Achievers University (AU) was established in 2007 and is located in Ondo state.

The fees range from N420,000 to N600,000.

Novena University

Novena University, located in Delta State, charges as school fees, between a range of N450,000 to N564,000.

Adeleke University

The university was established by Adedeji Adeleke, father of Davido, award winning Nigerian musician.

School fees for Adeleke University is between a range of N350,000 to N569,000.

Rhema University

Rhema is a Christian university located in Abia state.

Its school fees range from N416,000 to N478,000.

    private universities will always raise higher because is one man business, he doesn’t need cumbersome decision before anything can be done…so this makes it developed faster than federal institutions.

    Want to ask a question? Please is it not the same thing I am being taught here in COOU that is being taught in all this expensive universities or is their educational system different from ours…….. Is not the same certificate we all will have and even go to the same company to look for job, well I don’t blame the children their shaa their parents are up to task so they should enjoy and we here too will enjoy besides our school fees is high 137,950 no be chicken change. COOU should be included in the list Biko
