Students’ ‘Lodge’ Collapses In Otoko

The building in Otoko

Parts of residential accommodation of students which is located in Otoko, Anambra State have has caved in while under construction.

Reports have it that the building which is still under construction had been abandoned for about five years with only parts of the ground floor completed. But the owners commenced work on the property sometime last month.

They then started constructing the first floor before heavy rain fall on Tuesday June 3, led to the collapse of parts of the structure.

It was gathered that the property owner was planning to erect a two-storey students apartment before heavy rainfall brought parts of the structure down.

The collapse of the structure is still controversial as some people are murmuring the opinion that the rain fall alone should not be blamed for the collapse but the quality of materials used in the work should also be questioned.
