SOCIAL MEDIA USE BY MALE COMMERCIAL SEX WORKERS IN ANAMBRA STATE
ABSTRACT
The study examines the use of social media by male commercial sex workers in Anambra.
The objectives of the study are: to find out whether male commercial sex workers use social media; to investigate the most frequently used social media by male commercial sex workers; to ascertain what motivates male commercial sex workers social media use and to find out whether social media enhance business operations of male commercial sex workers.
Through the use of census method 26 male commercial sex workers in Anambra state were studied. Interview guide was used in collecting data and the qualitative method of data analysis was used in the study.
The results showed that male commercial sex workers in Anambra state use social media to a large extent and social media enhanced their business operation. The study therefore recommends that interactive network should be used in a discrete business because it cannot be advertised in a conventional radio stations.
