The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) was among the few dominant mass media platforms in Nigeria that shaped the news and programme presentations in the 1970s and 1980s. That was when government enjoyed monopoly of broadcasting in Nigeria. This made a lot of NTA news presenters household names in the country. Who is Sienne Allwell-Brown?
Siene Allwell-Brown was a television presenter with NTA. She made her debut on Radio in 1973, at NBC, Ikoyi Lagos before she ventured into Television. Also seen as a fashionista because of her very beautiful outfits, Siene was married first to Razak Lawal and later on to Nim Tariah.
She attained her First School Leaving Certificate at the Aba township school Aba, Abia State, West African school Certificate at the A.C.M Girl’s school Elelenwa, Rivers State, ‘A’ levels at Kilbum Polytechnic Kilbum, London in 1979, LLB (HONS) Law at the Middlesex University, London in 1984, Nigerian Law School, Lagos BL. Law 1985 at Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, INSEAD Amp-management 2009. In her course of study Siene offered the following courses; The Advanced Management Programme-INSEAD, France, Financial Awareness for Managers-UK, Management and Policy Development Skills for Senior Managers-UK, managing and leading strategic change-UK, The BBC Elocution, Phonetics and Basic Radio/TV Announcers course-Broadcasting House, Lagos, The Oil and Gas mini MBA-UK.

Siene worked with the Liquified Natural Gas Company as the General Manager, external communications many years ago, where she supervised the Communicators and Public Relations, Government Relations and Community Relations Departments, operating from Bonny, Port-Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja. She is a member of the senior Management Team, highest decision making body outside the Board of Directors and reporting directly to executive management.
Siene Allwell Brown was a principal partner at the Allwell-Brown and Co. (solicitors) from 1996-2000 (4years). She was the General Manager/Chief Executive for the Rivers State Television from 1994-1996 (2years), Newscaster Reporter, Editor, News Producer, Controller for the Nigerian Television Authority from 1985-1994 (9years), Newscaster, Reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority from 1976-1979 (3years), Continuity Announcer with the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation 1973-1976 (3years).
Siene Allwell has many Honors and awards to her credit including “Amaopuorubo” Grand Bonny Kingdom in 2006 a title conferred to select few females every few decades for serving the country and Bonny Kingdom creditably, “Service to Humanity Award” by Radio, Television, and Theartre Workers Union (RATTAWU), RSTV chapter, Rivers state. “Certificate of Honor” for achievement geared towards the development of mankind and the Bonny kingdom by Ibaniwari Owuogbo (cultural legend of grand Bonny kingdom). She was awarded Certificate of Commendation, Newscaster of the year category, Nigerian Media Merit Award. For three years consecutively, Siene was voted Best Nigerian Newscaster by Lagos Life- a Guardian Newspapers publication (1986, 1987, and 1988).
