It was a terrible scene to behold as fire outbreak, on Wednesday, claimed three lives at Kwakyama area of Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The explosion which was caused by a lone accident involving a fuel-laden tanker, killed the driver of the tanker and two other passengers who were with him in the vehicle.
Reports have it that the tanker driver drove recklessly, which caused him to lose the control of the vehicle before the ensuing fire razed a bus parked nearby.
It was gathered that the accident led to a heavy gridlock along the road, with many motorists and passengers stranded.
The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Enforcement and Enlightenment Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, who, confimed the incident attributed the tragedy to reckless driving, adding that the accident scene was close to Kyakyama Filling station after Ogere toll gate, Ogun State.
He said, “Our operatives, who were at the scene of the accident, said it was a lone accident involving a tanker laden with fuel.
“The driver was said to have driven recklessly which made him to lose control of the vehicle.
Also, the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Lagos State Command advised motorists to divert to Iperu, old Lagos/Ibadan expressway.
The command said rescue officers were already on ground to help the survivors.
