Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, today witnessed a protest by the Postgraduate students of the institution.
The angry postgraduate students during their protest, marched to the university’s Senate Building and the Postgraduate College among other locations in the university.
According to Punch, the students protested to express their dissatisfaction in what they they tagged to be exploitation by the school.
The protesters accused the university of “deliberate delay” in the release of final results of students after completion of their programmes and charging tuition for additional semesters spent waiting for the results.
The students said they had earlier communicated their displeasure to the university and held a meeting with the authorities.
They explained that the protest was necessitated by the breakdown of a negotiation meeting held with the school management on Tuesday.
The negotiation meeting had 13 of the affected students and representatives of the university management headed by the Provost of the OAU PG College and Dean of Students in attendance.
