Owerri, the capital city of Imo State, has since lost its status as one of the cleanest in the country. This is even as recent administrations battled to keep garbage off the streets of the city.
But what the current administration in the state is doing to keep garbage off the streets seems to be counter productive.
Open garbage trucks pack refuse from various points and as they move to disposal sites some of the refuse in the trucks still find their way onto the streets as wind blows.
The state government should adopt a better approach to refuse disposal in the city.
