School Children, Traders Die In Nnewi Accident As Mob Set Tanker Ablaze

No fewer than 6 persons, including school children lost their lives in an accident which occurred along Oba-Okigwe road, Nnewi, this morning.

Eye witness accounts said a sewage truck lost control and rammed into a small truck carrying red oil. The sewage truck was said to have hit the smaller truck carrying red oil which hit a trailer (big truck for conveying drinks) packed by the road side, leading to the fatal accident. This happened near St. Thomas Anglican Church junction, Nnewi.

It was reported that about 6 people, including two school children died instantly while the injured were taken to St. Thomas hospital, Nnewi.

Reports have it that the incident occurred near a depot where trailers that usually carry drinks, stopped to offload or load drinks. This incident angered witnesses around who then grew into an angry mob and set the trailer (big truck for conveying drinks) and sewage truck involved in the accident ablaze.

The vehicles were still aflame as at the time of filing this report.
