Scores of angry students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) stormed the streets of Awka, capital city of Anambra State, this afternoon to protest the death of a final year student at the school medical Center allegedly due to poor facilities in the center.
The students who marched to the popular Aroma junction held up traffic for moments as they screemed on top of their voices calling on the school authorities to do something about the poor health facility in the institution. Some of them wept as the protest went on.
They brandished placards expressing their displeasure with the state of the medical facility in their school and marched to Anambra State Broadcasting Service (ABS) which was nearby.
The deceased identified as Francis was a Microbiology student.
Unizik school authorities have yet to react to the incident as at the time of filing this report.
the school management better do something, RIP Francis.
I feel so bad… Even after the protest.. What has happened, has happened. The boy won’t resurrect.. The way these medicals handle lives eeh.. RIP FRANCIS.
What a loss
I think Nigeria University should pay close attention to the medical facilities in schools. NUC should work with ministry of health, and NMA to improve the standard of medical clinics in universities campus across the Federation.
Chai! what a tragedy. RIP
