The Governor of Anambra state Chief Willie Obiano has offered automatic employment to 17 Corps members into the state Civil Service.
They were corps members who distinguished themselves in their primary assignments and community service, during their service year in Anambra state between 2015 and 2016 .
This was announcement at an awards ceremony organized by the State government at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Center in Awka.
The Corps members were from the 2015 Batch B stream Two and 2016 Batch A, stream One, six of whom won the Governor’s award and the remaining eleven won the State Awards.
The first prize winners in the different batches under the Governor’s award category also received N200,000 cash prize and a brand new laptop each while the first and second runners up received N150,000 and N100,000 respectively and brand new laptops. While the eleven(11)state Award winners received cash prizes of 100, 000 each.
While presenting the awards, Gov Obiano charged Corps members in the state to see the state as their second home and put in their best in its service, assuring them that under his watch, their safety is guaranteed.
He relived his experience as the best Corps member during his NYSC days in Benue state, and congratulated the winners and urged serving Corps members to live in peace with their host communities and shun acts that could mar their future.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Youths Entrepreneurship and Sports Development, Dr Uju Nworgu explained that the awards was in keeping with the present administration’s tradition of honouring persons who have distinguished themselves in the service of the state.
In his address,the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Olawole Olusegun, emphasized that Anambra State is the best place to serve because of the support of the state government to Corps members and urged Corpers in the state to reciprocate the governor’s friendly disposition towards them by being dedicated to their duties.
