Ramsey Nouah Biography

The movie industry in Nigeria known as  Nollywood is blessed with many talents but a few of them have grown to become world wide brands for the industry. They are household names whose faces sell both Nollywood movies and the industry due to the huge fan base they control. One of such big names is Ramsey Nouah, a talented actor many fans love to see in movies.


Who is Ramsey Nouah?
Ramsey Nouah was born Ramsey Tokunbo Nouah Jr. in 19 December, 1970. He is a Nigerian actor and director. He is among the brands of Nollywood industry given his dominant the fact that he is a household name among viewers in Nigeria and across the globe. He made his directorial debut with the film Living in Bondage: Breaking Free in 2019. This movie was a big hit which launched a promising directing career for Nouah. He is also the founder of movie production company, Ramseyfilms.
Growing Up
Nouah was born in Edo State to a Lebanese-Israeli father and a Yoruba mother who hails from Owo, Ondo State. He was raised in Surulere, Lagos, by his mother. This was where he attended Atara Primary School and Community Grammar School. He then moved for higher education and obtained a diploma in mass communications at the University of Lagos. After that he began a lucrative and successful career in acting and has since become a household name in Nigeria.

Acting Career

Nouah’s acting career is characterized by successful big movie roles. Though he had considered venturing into a career in music when he was 20 years old, Nouah got encouraged to go into acting by a friend. He began auditioning for TV shows and at first try, he won the role of Jeff in the hit TV show, Fortunes, which ran from 1993 to 1994. Jeff was a popular character loved by fans of that programme, making Nouah a popular actor in Nigeria.
Nouah has since appeared in numerous movies starring as the lead role. He also became popular for acting in Romantic movies which made Nollywood fans to refer to him as “Lover Boy “. In 2010 Nouah won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The Figurine. He is considered to be one of the most sought-after actors in Nigeria. In 2015, he secured the rights to Living In Bondage from Kenneth Nnebue for a possible remake to be filmed in Europe, America and Nigeria. The news was later confirmed on Instagram, but the film appeared to have faced serious challenges for three years. In 2018, Nouah announced his remake had become a sequel titled Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, which was released on November 8, 2019. This movie again because she big hit just like the first one in 1994. Nouah recorded remarkable success with this movie given its popularity among fans.
In this remake of Living in Bondage, Nouah played the new cult chief priest, with original actors Okwonkwo, Udokwu, and Kanayo also reprising their roles. The story centers around Andy’s son Nnamdi and his quest for wealth. Rapper and MBGN winner Muna Abii also stars in the sequel. This was Nouah’s debut as a director and it was a huge success.

Nouah’s acting career is impressive. He has managed a feat that not many actors can boast of, by becoming successful in two distinct phases of Nollywood. These phases are the era of making movies tailored for cinema and international film festivals, which is the modern phase, and the early phase when fans relied on video cassettes and VCD or DVD copies of films to watch Nollywood movies. This is an expression of exceptional talent.
Family
Nouah is married to Emelia Philips-Nouah. The couple have two sons and a daughter, named as Quincy, Camil Nouah and Desiree Nouah.

Death Rumours
So many celebrities have suffered death rumours on social media which most often turned out to be false. Ramsey Nouah is among such celebrities that have received this unfair social media bad news.

Nouah was reported to have died when he allegedly suffered internal bleeding after falling off a building whilst trying a stunt on a movie set in Kumasi, Ghana. This turned out to be fake news. He was also rumoured to have died after he suffered acute waist pain before getting involved in a fatal car crash. This was another another fake social media news. Trust the social media community, such bad news spreads like wildfire on a viral lane without any one bothering to confirm from the actor himself.
The stories even sound funny yet bloggers and other social media users copy and paste them just like that. For instance, there was a report where the actor was rumoured to have been pronounced dead after a fatal car crash. The story further claimed that his friend was driving his BMW when the incident occurred. To support the rumour, some news organisations attached dash cam footage (which was later found to be 6 years old). This lead to so much panick among fans but It later turned out to be another well arranged falsehood as the actor personally shared a recent picture of his latest project. Nouah is very much alive and keeps giving updates about some of his latest endeavours. He is among the few Nollywood big names who thrill fans a lot especially with his talent on screen.
