The ongoing strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, ‘may’ be called off on Friday as the National Executive Council (NEC) of the union has scheduled a meeting on that day to determine the direction of the strike.
The meeting is coming after national branches equally held meetings on Wednesday to decide on whether the strike should continue or not.
All branch chairmen are expected to be in Abuja on Thursday for the NEC meeting is tentatively expected to end on Saturday after which a decision will be communicated to Nigerians.
Though most branch chairmen of ASUU refused to divulge the outcome of their meetings at local chapters, it was gathered that the University lecturers are still insisting on more commitment from the Federal Government before the strike is called off.
Details of the NEC meeting will be provided afterward.
It’s too early for anybody to hope for the suspension of the ongoing ASUU strike. All the branches vehemently voted for the strike to continue. Govt promissory note was considered flimsy and grossly inadequate for ASUU to suspend the strike.
We only pray that after the meeting the strike would be called of

They should better provide what ASUU needs..
