As part of events to celebrate this year’s World Teachers Day, The Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has rewarded the Best Principal in the State, Mr. Fidelis Okolafor, with a gift of a brand new SUV (Jeep) and N2 million cash.
Mr. Okolafor who is the principal of Utagba-Ogbe Grammar School, Kwale, emerged winner of the best principal in Delta state for the year 2019, after beating several other candidates to the position.
The award was presented to Mr. Okolafor by Dr. Okowa, during the Teacher’s Day celebration in the State held Saturday, October 6.
According to the Delta state Ministry of Education officials who organised the annual event, Mr. Okolafor beat others to win the award because of his reputation for integrity and zero tolerance for indiscipline.
He is reputed for being singularly responsible for turning around the school from the decay it experienced decades back to being the best secondary school in Delta state in recent times.
Being an old student of the school himself, Mr. Okolafor’s success is being celebrated by fellow old students worldwide under the aegis of the Utagba Ogbe Grammar School Old Students’ Association (UGOSA).
In his statement on the success story, the President of the Association, Dr. Emmanuel Odishika, described Mr. Okolafor’s award and rewards as a case of a teacher getting his reward first on earth before the famed heavenly version.
Speculations are rife that there might be a possible state appointment for the Principal to impact the state with his administrative magic touch.
