The Governor of Anambra state Chief Willie Obiano has handed over a 33-seater coaster bus to the Onitsha Sports Club.
During a brief handing over ceremony Gov Obiano said his administration’s commitment to developing Sports as a means of catering for the health of the people, remains total.
Presentation of the vehicle was in fulfilment of a promise the governor made to the Club last month when he inaugurated the Willie Obiano Lawn Tennis Tournament at Onitsha.
According to him, the bus which was manufactured by an indigenous company, -Innoson Motors Manufacturing Company Ltd was procured by his administration in keeping with its policy of patronizing locally manufactured goods.
He urged the club to utilize the vehicle to expand their activities in covering all parts of the Metropolis, assuring that his government will continue to support them as its resources permit.
A member of the Club’s Board of Trustees, Chief Godwin Okeke noted that they are happy with the way the governor has been handling the affairs of the state especially as it concerns security and his passion for impacting lives.
The President of the Club, Chief Tobechi Ejezie while expressing appreciation to the governor for the gesture, said it would help the club intensify its support activities to other smaller Clubs in the Onitsha area.
