A monkey that specializes in drinking petrol from motorbikes has been nabbed red-handed while on the act.

The petrol-addicted animal has been targeting parked bikes at the market in Panipat, in the northern Indian state of Haryana.

But they were stunned to realise the true culprit was a ‘monkey’.

The animal was consuming so much petrol it was ‘always high’ and would even refuse gifts of bananas.

The monkey was caught on camera by a mechanic, slurping petrol from a motorcycle.

Gaurav Leekha, who runs a volunteer organisation in the city, said: “The monkey was clearly addicted to the petrol.

“It would refuse to eat even bananas and nuts if anyone offered it.”

Leekha said the monkey did not pose any danger to humans ‘as it was perhaps always high’
