Occupants of CBN Hostel, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam campus, have pleaded with the institution’s management to renovate facilities in their hostel which were dilapidating fast.
Reports have it that the CBN female hostel that was once a paradise in the eyes of the students of COOU had turned to some else.
In a chat with our correspondent, an occupant of the hostel identified as Miss Onuigbo, said that the hostel was built in the year 2015 and then it was like a paradise but today that story is now negative with dilapidating facilities.
According to her, “when your fellow students hear that you stay in the CBN hostel, they respects you and would like to associate with you but now the hostel is in a real mess.”
She said that since the early part of this year, that most necessary things that made the hostel conducive had become faulty and this was making most of the students to move to off campus lodges.
She further said that the toilets, bathrooms and the kitchens were now faulty, adding that even the pipes were broken.. This, she said, made the students to have their bath outside and also do what they call ”back put throw” meaning to defecate inside a nylon and throwing it into the bush at the back of the hostel.
“We need urgent intervention of the school management, we are tired of treating bacteria and yeast infections,” she finally said.
