It was more of a hilarious moment in one of the state Universities in the South East as a lecturer’s creative marketing strategy backfired.
The lecturer wanted to make a lot of his students rush to the bookshop to buy his text on Environmental Communication; he decided to create impression that copies of the book grew on a tree to make students eager to purchase the book.
This was because most students do not go to the bookshop to purchase books since it was optional.
Massmediang gathered that the unnamed lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication teaching 400 level students environmental communication secretly fixed copies of his book on a tree to get students impressed with nature and natural book.
When the students went to school the next morning and saw copies of the book on a tree near their classroom complex, they looked the other way while some of them felt it was an awkward development for a book to grow on a tree. A few of them even claimed ‘village people’ were behind the book since it mysteriously appeared on a tree. Some others jokingly said they thought the book was used for midnight sacrifice by some desperate persons.
It was gathered that a number of the students purchased the book because according to them, it was a good book and not because of the strange tree strategy.
The stunned lecturer wondered why environmental communication students were not impressed by the strategy which drew them close to nature and the environment.
