Some scholars are better described as silent achievers although their works sing their praises across far-reaching horizons. The field of Mass Communication is a very tasking one when it comes to scholarship and ground-breaking research works. Few women in Nigeria have become outstanding in this discipline due to their exceptional contributions to knowledge which has fetched them well-deserved promotion. One of them is Hajara Umar Sanda. You may not have heard about her before now but she has made history as the first woman to be promoted to the professorial cadre in the Department of Mass Communication, Bayero University Kano (BUK).
Hajara recently got promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Mass Communication, becoming the first female to earn the promotion in the department since its establishment 42 years ago. This feat has made her one of the most outstanding female scholars of Mass Communication in Nigeria, with a domineering status among other female scholars from Northern part of the country.
