Gov. Obiano Provides AMBULANCES, NURSES QUARTERS to 543 HEALTH CENTRES

Gov Willie Obiano has described provision of infrastructures in the health sector for quality healthcare delivery and other services as not limited to just the physical infrastructure or buildings, rather it entails all medical equipment, functional operational vehicles for emergencies(ambulances), conducive and clean environment to enhance efficient and smooth operations generally.

This urgent need to improve health care services in state was reiterated by the governor during the ceremony to hand over cheques to mission hospitals in the state.

Gov Obiano had announced that the state government was to distribute Tricycle Ambulances to the 543 health centres across the state.

Also the governor revealed that upon inception of office, his administration had divided its intervention in the health sector into three namely -upgrade of health infrastructure, ensuring the comfort of patients and training/retraining of health workers and their welfare, adding that the funds distributed to the missions were part of his efforts at supporting them as major players in the health revolution in the state.

According to the governor, the tricycle ambulances which cost the state government a lot of money remains part of his administration’s intervention in improving primary healthcare delivery especially at the rural communities where access is difficult.

He explained that his administration was presently working in 63 healthcentres across the state where it was also building nurses’ quarters to ensure that patients were attended to whenever there are need/challenges. That administration was working on paying incentives to nurses working in remote areas as is obtainable in the health sector.

Gov Obiano also hinted on the State Health Insurance Scheme (SHIS) initiated by his administration through which it aims to address the greatest challenge militating against effective healthcare delivery all over the world, which is health financing and noted that the initial 200 million naira required to kick-start the programme will be provided by his administration.
