A 7-year-old girl died yesterday after a car rolled over her in Drogheda, Ireland. Photos of the girl has now been shared for the first time.
Chantelle Keenan was fatally injured at around 2.30pm on Sunday, July 7, when she was playing near a car that began to move on a driveway. A number of other children were playing close to the car when it began to move. Sadly, Chantelle was crushed.
She was immediately rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where it is understood she was pronounced dead, the Irish Mirror reports.
Tributes from family and friends have poured in for the “little angel” from Co Louth, Ireland. A family member told The Irish Mirror that they are all “heartbroken” following the incident.
Speaking to the Irish Mirror, local councillor Sharon Tolan said: “It was a shocking accident in Drogheda, the poor family.”
In a statement to Irish Mirror, a garda spokesman said: “Gardaí in Drogheda are investigating an incident which occurred in the driveway of a house in Boyle O’Reilly Terrace at approximately 2.30pm today 7th July 2019.
“Initial investigations indicate that a 7 year old female was fatally injured in what appears to be a tragic accident involving a car.
“The local coroner has been notified. Investigations are ongoing.”
