Fire razes GSM market in Maiduguri (video)

A tragic incident occurred last night as shops and properties at GSM market in Maiduguri were destroyed by a fire which started at about 8:00 pm and lasted for several hours.

The fire at the market popularly known as Jagwol and located at the Post Office area of Maiduguri metropolis, occurred hours after the traders closed for the day’s business.

Though the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, it was reportedly brought under control by fire servicemen, security personnel and members of the community.

The Borno State Government has constituted a committee to investigate and access the extent of the damage caused by the fire as it was gathered that some shops were completely razed down.
