FG Suspends Two Vice Chancellors over Corruption Charges

The Federal Government, Thursday, May 11, suspended the the vice chancellors of Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) Prof Adebiyi Daramola, and Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof Olusola Oyewole over allegations levelled against them by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU). The allegations were slammed against the two Vice Chancellors on Wednesday, May 10 by SSANU which had called for the sack of four Vice Chancellors of Nigerian universities over alleged corruption.

Daily Mail reports that among the four VCs listed by SSANU were Daramola and Oyewole. The letter of suspension which was signed by Dr Hussaini Adamu, the acting Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, indicated that they were suspended in connection with their ongoing trial at the behest of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
