Lawlessness! Hoodlums Brutalize Female Journalist in Owerri (Photos)

A female correspondent of an unnamed newspaper in the South-eastern part of Nigeria was attacked by unidentified hoodlums who were invading Owerri, Imo capital city, Wednesday, August 30.

According to her, the thugs attacked her opposite the National Union of Journalists Secretariat along Port-Harcourt road, and the beat her up mercilessly in the process.

The hoodlums also made away with her valuables such as cash, union I.D card and phone. They were said to have vandalised vehicles they met as they moved, and harassed people along the road.
It could be recalled that pandemonium broke in Owerri yesterday (Wednesday) news broke that the youth from two major communities in the state were engaged in a bloody fight, as path of the aftermath of the demolition of Eke Ukwu Market, Owerri. People ran helter-skelter between the hours of 2 and 7pm not knowing what was happening. Security operatives eventually overran the Dougslas Road area of the state near the demolished market where the incident was said to have commenced.
