For most people, it’s just a matter of getting over your pre-existing hangups about cockroaches being dirty and disgusting. However, this may prove to be quite a high hurdle, indeed, for some.
So cockroaches are edible and healthy to eat provided they are cooked very well to kill the bacteria germs present in them. Usually this is accomplished by frying the roaches in vegetable oil, which also gives them a crunchy and crispy texture. Those who eat it say particular specie called the giant Madagascar hissing cockroach tastes like chicken when prepared well. If you breed them yourself and feed them pure, organic foods, why couldn’t you eat them raw? You are then controlling the environment. If the environment is clean, they are clean, right?
Try black ants. I challenge anyone not to like the taste of raw, black ants. Not the red ones which taste bitter/awful! Crickets taste pretty good too, so do mealworms. All eaten raw. But crickets are a pain to breed as they are very hard to keep quiet and jump around a lot. So they often escape. Not so with mealworms and cockroaches.
