Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has disclosed that the World Bank has approved the sum of N6.9 billion for erosion control works on the Nnewi-ichi erosion site.
The Governor made this known at Eneta -Edo square, in Nnewi during the flag-off ceremony of his reelection campaigns in Nnewi North Council of the state.
The Governor acknowledged that the state government has paid in the sum of One billion as its counterpart contribution, and assured that work would commence on the site immediately the rains subside.
The governor further said his administration is handling 37 access roads in the Council area and that some of them have been completed.
That communities in Nnewi North and South areas will from this weekend enjoy 16 hours non-stop power supply daily because of the expansion of the Obosi injection power substation embarked on by his administration.
He urged Ndi Nnewi to support his administration to continue to benefit from its laudable people-oriented programmes.
The Wife of Late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Chief Mrs Bianca Ojukwu commended the people for the massive turnout at the event, saying it goes to re-enforce their commitment to support APGA which was handed to them by the late Dim.
Former Governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba in her remarks, noted that Anambra is presently taking the lead in many positive areas because of the vision of Gov Obiano and that Ndi Nnewi are strongly behind him.
Others who spoke at the event including former Minister of Health, Dr Tim Menakaya; the APGA National Chairman, Chief Victor Oye; the Chairman of the governor’s re-election campaign committee, Chief Victor Umeh and the Coordinator, Willie Obiano Support Group, Chief Jude Emechetta identified the various achievements of the Obiano administration in Nnewi North and pointed out that it is only proper that Gov Obiano is given a second term to enable him consolidate on the good works he’s doing in transforming the State.
Earlier while welcoming the Governor to the council area, the Transition Committee Chairman of the Council Area, Prince Chukwudi Orizu and a Special Assistant to the governor on Political matters, Mr Patterson Uzuegbunam said the governor has shown them love and that Nov 18, 2017 poll will be their turn to repay him.
