A lawyer in Uganda has petitioned the court asking for the grave of South-African based late 39-year-old billionaire, Ivan Semwanga, to be forced open so as to retrieve large amount of money alleged to be about 100 million Ugandan Shillings (about $27,763) which the deceased’s friends buried him with.

Punch metro reports that the lawyer, Tugume Gideon, had deposed that Semwanga was buried with money, a legal tender that no one is allowed to hoard.

Ugandan media reports that Gideon had sued to have the grave opened and the money removed, claiming that the money is a legal tender and should not be locked down with anyone.

It could be recalled that the late billionaire who was a Ugandan-born business man based in South Africa, was declared dead on May 25, 2017 after spending 11 days in Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria, South Africa, where he had been admitted and put on life support machines.

The late billionaire’s close friends who call themselves the “Rich Gang,” had surrounded the late billionaire’s grave, poured hundreds of notes into it, along with bottles of  champagnes, when he was being buried on Tuesday, May 30, at his home in Kayunga, Uganda.

It was gathered that the Rich Gang hired four policemen for a period of four months to protect the grave from tomb raiders who may want to break in to steal the money and alcohol.

Semwanga’s ex-wife, Zari Hassan, said the deceased was fond of telling her, “Life is too short, Zee, let me live it to the fullest.” They had three sons together.
