Lagos State Police Command have arrested the mastermind of the murder of a former winner of the Gulder Ultimate Search, Hector Jobarteh.
The suspect, identified as Ismaila Adeyemi, was arrested at Gas Line, in the Ijoko area of Ogun State, confessed to the crime.
The PUNCH had reported that the late 38-year-old was trailed by his killers to his home on Olufowora Close New Oko-Oba, in the Agege area of Lagos State, where he was shot dead.
The police spokesperson, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, in a statement on Tuesday, said the police had arrested the prime suspect, adding that he would soon be arraigned in court.
The statement said, “The Lagos State Police Command, after weeks of intensive manhunt, wishes to announce to the general public the arrest of one Ismaila Adeyemi, 49, the suspected mastermind and killer of Hector Jobarteh, who was traced and shot dead at his residence at New Oko-Oba in the Agege area of Lagos State.
“The suspect, who was arrested at Gas Line, in the Ijoko area of Ogun State, confessed to the murder and other numerous crimes, while other members of his gang have also been arrested. The suspects will be charged to court after investigation is concluded.”
Famous-Cole said the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, was committed to purging the state of criminal elements, urging residents to assist the command with useful information.
