This is a twist to the long held notion that couples who have television in their bedroom and watch together, have improved sex life. In fact, studies that made this revelation said those who have television in their bedroom had sex twice as much as those who do not have television set in their bedroom. A more recent study has countered that impression.
This new study was carried out in over 80 countries, giving a more general angle to this topic. It says couples who have television set in their bedroom could have a very poor sex life. Check out this report posted on Men’s Health. It gives an insight to this debate on whether spouses should have a television set in their bedroom.
Couples With This Piece Of Decor In Their Room Have Less Sex
While there might be nothing better than snuggling up with your partner and putting on a movie, new research has found that if there’s a TV in your room, you likely have a very poor sex life.
According to a new study published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, couples who have a TV in their bedroom, on average, have 6 per cent less sex than those who do not.
The research included 4 million people across 80 countries and 5 continents.
“Our findings are consistent with people demonstrating some willingness to substitute electronic companionship for human companionship,” says Nicholas Wilson, associate professor of economics at Reed College in Portland, Ore.
“More recently, popular culture has claimed that smartphones are killing peoples sex lives,” write the authors.
“Our study population resides in low- and middle-income countries and were surveyed largely around 2010, before the widespread availability of smartphones. In countries with ubiquitous smartphones, the smartphone might be the real sex-life killer.”
The results also found that income, age, and education didn’t impact the sexual activity of TV owners.
