The Students Union Government (SUG) of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University on Monday 24, held a seminar for its Students as part of its SUG Week.
The Seminar which was done at the ETF auditorium at the new site of the Igbariam Campus was themed “The Mental Poverty Of The Youths: An Advantage For The Adult”.
Speaking at the seminar, Barrister Rave Emeka Eyisi said that there are 91 million youths in the country some of which were unemployed.
He spoke on youth employment saying that mental poverty was the stage at which the mind could not produce ideas.
Barrister Eyisi said that the present educational system of Nigeria was programmed to produce educated literates.
Barrister Eyisi, who defined mental poverty as “a situation in which your mind cannot produce ideas” also said that the tools which youths abuse today include the social media, smartphones and entertainment,, adding that their possible solutions included skill acquisition, having mentors in all sectors of life, setting your priorities, attending seminars.
