Change of Complexion! Ghana Bans Bleaching Creams

The government of Ghana has banned bleaching creams in the country.

Making this announcement on Wednesday while speaking before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC),  the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mrs Mimi Darko, said the ban had been effective since last. She added that her agency had also stopped registering body creams with bleaching agents.

According to Adom News, Mrs. Darko also said the FDA was currently carrying out sensitization programmes to educate market women and other groups on the negative effects of bleaching and why it should be condemned.

View: Do you think this should be done in Nigeria or do you feel anybody has the right to turn from black to yellow?
