Argentinian winger Angel Di Maria has acknowledged the Super Eagles are very strong opponent in next year’s World Cup Tournament in Russia following their Tuesday 4-2 International friendly defeat to the Africans.
Nigeria came from a 2-goal deficit and won comfortably after a poor start and some goalkeeping errors from the shot stopper for the night, Daniel Akpeyi.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid player said Nigerians’ first goal at the stroke of half time proved decisive as Gernot Rohr’s boys ran riot in the second period.
“What a match. We started well, successfully held the first half. But the goal of the Nigerians before the break was a turning point,” Angel Di María said at a press conference attended by Sports Express.
”We were physically overpowered by a very strong opponent. And we calmed down a bit, and we paid for it. It’s good that this is not the World Cup yet.
”We will slowly play, correct the mistakes. Italy? She received a serious blow. Extra proof that any team can win from the so-called heavyweights,” the PSG star told reporters.
