He had five children before his wife became pregnant for what they taught would be their last baby. The pregnancy ended up birthing their last five babies. Today, Abuchi and Ndidi Odo have nine children, four boys and five girls.
The couple first had three girls, one each from different pregnancies. They then had triplets, Two boys and one girl, but they lost the boys shortly after birth. Then then went in search of a boy and the next pregnancy gave quintuplets, five boys and a girl.
Mrs. Ndidi Odo, 29, said she never knew she was carrying quintuplets as a scan revealed she had twins.
Mr. Odo, a tricycle operator, said he wanted to run away after realizing the magnitude of the responsibility that just fell on him, said he was prevailed upon to stay back by one Prince Justin Brown and his elder brother.
Mr. Odo said his old tricycle could not put food on the table for nine children outside him and his wife.
He appealed to Governor Willie Obiano and other eminent personalities in the state and beyond to assist him in taking car of the babies.
