Up NEPA! Anambra Assembly Orders EEDC To Connect COOU To National Grid

The Anambra State House of Assembly has called on the management of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to connect Odumegwu Ojukwu University Igbariam /Uli Campuses to national grid.

Debating on his motion, the member representing Ekwusigo constituency, Hon. Onyebuchi Offor said he’s aware that the issue of poor academic performance of students in Nigeria has been of much concern to the government, parents and teachers.
Hon. Offor is worried that power failure in Odumegwu Ojukwu University affects the efficacy and effectiveness of learning in the said University.
Furthermore, the institution needs to be provided with an enabling environment to acquire the appropriate knowledge and skills.
Still speaking, the Lawmaker pointed out that one of the ways it can be achieved is through availability of constant electric power supply.
“If Odumegwu Ojukwu University Igbariam /Uli campuses are connected to National grid, it would enhance power supply in that citadel of learning”.  Hon. Onyebuchi.
Supporting the motion, the member representing Ayamelu constituency, Hon. Uche Okafor called on the Commissioner for public utilities to work with EEDC since they are in charge of distribution of electricity in the State to get the University energized.
The speaker, Rt. Hon. Rita Mmaduagwu read out the motion and it was resolved by the House.
