Eight members of dreaded cult groups were arrested by Ogun State police during special operations carried out to checkmate the violent activities of cultists in the state.
According to Ogun police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects were caught following bloody clashes in Abeokuta and Itori.
Oyeyemi revealed that during the supremacy battle between members of Aiye and Eiye cult groups, four persons were confirmed dead.
To reduce the number of cultists disturbing the state, Ogun state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole allegedly ordered a massive manhunt for any member of either of the groups.
This led to the arrest of Toheeb Erinoso, Sanya Ayinde, Monsuru Akindele, Olufunso Moyo, Ramon Oyetola, Adeoba Saheed, Akinyemi Olamide and Babalola Rasaq.
The suspects were arrested in different parts of Ogun State with three locally-made guns. They confessed their membership of Aiye and Eiye confraternities.
Meanwhile, the police commissioner has ordered that the special operation continues until all the thugs terrorizing the communities are flushed out.
“He also appealed to parents to call their children and wards to order, as anyone caught fomenting trouble under any guise will be decisively dealt with.” Oyeyemi revealed.
