Writing for the Mass Media! Outdoor Quiz

Welcome to the new semester.

Recall that we introduced the course – Writing For The Mass Media – today. We looked at the course outline and commenced with the definition of basic concepts such as mass media,  mass media writing and news.  We discussed the hard news and soft news. We also looked at the news elements. As a journalist you ought to understand the meaning of news and how to determine what is news worthy. That was why we defined news value today as the key determinants of news. We also said news elements are the key questions that guide journalists in writing a good news piece.

Questions :

3. What do you understand by the inverted pyramid style?

    2) News is defined as any occurant occurance reported through the media by a reporter or a journalist to the audience. It could also be defined as a timely report of happenings that are of interest to the audience of a medium.
    3) The inverted pyramid style is basically for straight news reports,it presents a story from the most important to the least important facts.
