Mass Communication is one of the most versatile courses offered by Universities in Nigeria. This course which is called Media and Communication in most other countries, especially in the developed world involves a lot of practical exercises and requires good facilities for students to learn meaningfully.

In Nigeria almost all Universities that offer Mass Communication have the department domiciled in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Arts, or Information Technology. They are not referred to as Mass Communication schools. Here we use Mass Communication schools to refer to such departments in various Universities. So what we presented here is a list of Top 20 most expensive places to study Mass Communication, Media and Communication,or Communication Arts, depending on what the institution calls this programme. This ranking was done in terms of school fees paid to study Mass Communication in these Universities.

There are schools in Nigeria which offer mass communication with very good learning environment but the cost of training in such schools may not be cheap at all. Who knows, the high school fees could translate to high quality training in this discipline. Here are top 20 most expensive universities to study mass communication. Nile University of Nigeria

Nile University of Nigeria was founded by the parent company of the NTIC (SURAT Nigeria Ltd) in 2009 as a private higher education institution located in the large town of Abuja, Federal Capital Territory. School fees for Mass Communication students is N2.4 Million.

Pan-Atlantic University

Baze University

Baze University was established in 2011 with a campus in Abuja. The Founder and Pro-chancellor of the institution is Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.  The fees for Department of Mass communication is about N2. 25 Million.

Pan-Atlantic University

Pan-Atlantic University is an expensive private university located in Lagos state. The university which was founded in 2002 was formerly known as Pan African University. This school offers two courses related to communication – Mass Communication, and Information Science and Media Studies.

To study Mass Communication in this school, the fees ranges between N1.95 Million (for fresh students) and N1.86 Million(for 200 level students) and N1.7 Million (for 300 and400 level Students).

To Study Information and Media studies, the fees ranges between N2 Million to N1.7 Million.

AUN

American University of Nigeria (ABTI)

The university is located in Yola, the capital of Adamawa state. The fees for Department of Communications and Multimedia Design is N1,590,000.

Afe Babalola University

This institution is owned by Afe Babalola, a prominent legal luminary from Ekiti state. To study Communication and Media Studies in this school you pay N872,000 (for new students) and N836,000 (for returning students) as fees.

Covenant University

Covenant is a private Christian university and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Its school fees for Mass Communication students is about N857,500.

 

Bingham University

Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State was established by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) following its formal licensing by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on 5th January, 2005.

The private institution’s fees for Mass Communication Students is N658,000.

Benson Idahosa University

Popularly known as B.I.U, the school fees for Mass Communication students ranges from N645,500 (for new students) to N534,800 (for final year students).

Ben Idahosa University was founded in 1994 and is located in Benin, Edo state.

Adeleke University

The university was established by Adedeji Adeleke, father of Davido, award winning Nigerian musician.

Located in Owo, Osun state, this institution is a private university owned and operated by the Nigerian Baptist Convention. The fees for Communication Arts students is N650,000.

 

Redeemer’s University

The Christian university has its fees for Mass Communication students at about N590,000.

The university which is owned by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), was established in 2005.

Joseph Ayo Babalola University

Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) was established by the Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide in 2006. It is located in Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun state. Its fees for Mass Communication ranges from N527,000 (for fresh students) and N506,500 (for 400 level students).

Babcock University

This institution was established by The Seventh Day Adventist church.

To study Mass Communication in this school you pay N546,930 (for new students) or N425,933 (for older students).

 

Novena University

Novena University, located in Delta State, charges about N450,000 as school fees for Mass Communication students.

Ajayi Crowther University

Located in Oyo State, the university fees for Mass Communication students is N470,000 (for new students) and N445,000 (for returning students).

 

Achievers University

Achievers University (AU) which was established in 2007 and is located in Ondo state.

The fees for Mass Communication is N400,000 (for fresh students), N500,000 (for final year students). This school has unique school fees structure; while in other schools the fees reduce as you get to higher levels, in this school the fees actually increase as you move to final year.

Crawford University

This is a private Christian university located in Igbesa, Ogun state. To study Mass Communication in this school, you pay N461,000.

 

 

Rhema University

Rhema is a Christian university located in Abia state.

Its school fees for Mass Communication students per session is N464,000 (for fresh students)andN444,000 (for other levels).

 

Madonna University

This institution has 3 campuses – Elele, Akpugo and Okija. In Madonna University, Mass Communication Students pay about N400,000 as school fees.

  1. The price for Bingham, Bowen, and Bacbcock are not correct. Babcock is supposed to be higher on the list. Bingham is supposed to be lesser. Bowen is supposed to be lesser to. Another observation is that Baze university in Abuja is not there on the list. If there is a top 3,count it as one. I can get the exact amount of the earlier stated three universities.

    1. You’re right about Baze University. But when you check the fees published online by the other institutions you mentioned you’ll see that what we have here is in order except you added other fees not mentioned on the institutions’ website.
